Cucumbers (SOLD OUT)
(Cucumis sativus)
Size: 6-Pack
We offer two types of cucumbers- slicing and pickling. Slicers are characterized by thick, uniform, dark greens skins and typically consummated fresh. Pickling cucumbers are generally shorter, more stout than slicing varieties. They are bred to have a drier flesh that allows them to soak up more brine during the pickling process. However, pickling varieties can be eaten fresh and slicing varieties can be pickled so you really can’t go wrong either way!
Marketmore- Introduced in 1968 by Cornell University, this variety has become a staple heirloom in the home garden. A dark green, smooth skin, slicer variety that’s ready to pick at 6-8” long. Vines reach 4-6’ in height and will continue to produce late into the season with regular harvest. While this variety is known for its high-quality fresh eating, we’ve found it also does well when pickled. Impressively disease and pest resistant.
Boston Pickling- An old heirloom that dates back to 1880. Very productive vines with smooth green fruits. This is an excellent choice for pickling as the fruit is of good quality and very crisp.
